2025 S Ethan Long Talks Notre Dame, What's Next
AVON, Conn. - Ethan Long made another visit to South Bend last month and once again, the 2025 Connecticut left impressed.
The Brunswick School star was back at Notre Dame for the Irish’s primetime game against Ohio State, following previous stops in June and July.
“Notre Dame was great,” Long said following Brunswick’s game against Avon Old Farms here on Saturday night. “It's always nice going back and seeing what the atmosphere is like and just seeing how they can take care of business over there. It was just a great thing.”
Long made the trip with his friend, Brunswick teammate and fellow Irish target, 2025 offensive lineman Matty Augustine.
“Getting there early, seeing all the tailgates, seeing how much people really care about Notre Dame, it's crazy how much love and family they have,” Long said.
“College GameDay was there, so that was huge. That was really fun to watch. You literally couldn't hear yourself speak during and before the game, people were talking and having a great time and everyone's just enjoying each other's presence.”
Long camped in South Bend in June and returned for the Grill & Chill in July. He’s been impressed with the other recruits he’s met during his trips.
“They're always the best,” he said. “Notre Dame, like I said, they recruit good kids, the ones who want to be there. I've been around the same ones, so the recruits are always great.”
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder also enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with the Irish coaches in person.
“Energetic,” he said of the Notre Dame staff. “They show a lot of love. There is respect both ways. We really want to just get to know each other more. They're great people.”
Long’s offer sheet includes schools like Notre Dame, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Duke and several others.
In addition to Notre Dame, he’s already visited Penn State this fall and is looking at some more trips soon.
“I have a couple more visits,” he said, pointing to Michigan’s showdown against Ohio State on Nov. 25th and possibly Michigan State’s home game against Penn State the night before.
Long isn’t focused on a timeline for a decision just yet.
“Right now, I'm just trying to get through the season, healthy with my team, fighting with my brothers. I'll take care of that after,” he said.
But it’s obvious the Irish will remain among the top contenders.
“Notre Dame's always going to be high. I've been around them forever and they always exceed my expectations.”
