2025 Notre Dame QB Commit Blake Hebert Talks Official Visit

This fall was such a whirlwind for Blake Hebert‍ that the 2025 Massachusetts quarterback made a decision to flip his commitment from Clemson to Notre Dame without taking a visit since the one he took over a year earlier.

Hebert finally got the chance to return to South Bend for his official visit at the start of this week.

“It was great,” he told Irish Sports Daily. “Honestly, it felt like home. It was a great visit.

“Both my parents were there, which was awesome. We toured campus again, just to get another feel of it. We had a bunch of meetings, got to see their walkthrough on Monday. We ate a lot of good food. The whole experience was awesome.”

Hebert first visited South Bend back in June of 2023, around the time he picked up his offer from the Irish. When he scheduled his college announcement shortly after that visit, the immediate vibe was that it could be good for Notre Dame.

Instead, he chose Clemson and seemed set on the Tigers until the Irish came calling again with some help from his new teammates and Notre Dame commits at Brunswick (Conn.) School, Matty Augustine‍ and Ethan Long‍.

Last month, in a dramatic turn of events, Hebert announced the change and has been locked in with the Irish since.

While back on campus this week, Hebert had the opportunity to sit down with Irish head coach Marcus Freeman.

“He was great,” said Hebert. “He's such a great guy, and then obviously an amazing coach. Just to speak to his personality, he's an awesome dude and he gets along really well with the guys.”

Hebert also enjoyed the chance to get in the meeting room with offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock.

“I think I'm going to fit really well,” he said. “I'm a really big fan of Coach Denbrock's offense. The statistics spoke for themselves when he was at LSU and then obviously they're really coming along this year and doing really well.”

With his prep team playing every Saturday, Hebert never had the chance to take the typical weekend official visit, but this offered a unique peek at what life is actually like for a Notre Dame football player.

“I thought it was pretty cool,” said Hebert. “I got to see how it really was on the front half of the week, which is really cool, rather than just a weekend with a game day. It's nice to see how it's actually going to be on a Monday and a Tuesday.

“They were in game prep for Army, so it was cool to see how they broke all that down. I think I'm going to fit really well into that system.”

Hebert’s college journey will start sooner than most, sooner even than most early enrollees.

“I'm going to be there for bowl prep, so it'll be under a month,” he said. “I was super focused on the season while I was in season. Now that it's over, I've kind of got the chance to step back, take a breath, and really take it in.

“It's December 19th, so however many days that is. It's pretty cool to think about. Obviously, I don't really play it up too big. I'm going to play football, going to a great school, and just really excited to get to work, get in the classroom and just experience a new thing in life, a new chapter. I’m definitely looking forward to that.”
