While the blowout win over USC was the highlight of the day for most of the people in South Bend on Saturday, a moment prior to kickoff may have claimed that title for Linkon Cure‍ as the 2025 Kansas tight end and his parents spoke with Irish offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Gerad Parker

“We went to the Walk where the players go to the locker room,” Cure told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “After that, we went on the field.

“Coach Parker came out and talked to us. We had a pretty long conversation and then, he offered me. It meant a lot to me and my parents. They liked how he talked with us in person. He is very well-spoken.”

The 6-foot-6, 215-pounder adds Notre Dame to a list of schools that already included Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State, Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M and Oregon among several others.

“They loved my film and they said most of all they love the type of person that I am,” Cure said of Parker and the Notre Dame staff. “He really wanted to meet me in person first. He said he's really impressed with the person I am, and I had a lot of respect for that.

“I just love how well-spoken he is. I know I keep saying that, but that's really a lot of what it is. Most coaches, they won't have a 15-minute conversation with your parents before they offer you. When he did that, that was really cool.”

While in town, the Goodland High School standout had the chance to spend time with Notre Dame Recruiting Assistant Caleb Davis, who has been taking a lead role on the recruitment thus far.

“We got along well,” said Cure. “I met some other recruiters that I haven't talked to much and they just told me how impressed they were with my film and all that.”

Of course, the Irish’s 48-20 win over USC stood out as well.

“It was amazing,” Cure said. “It was electric. I was really happy to be there and be around all the other recruits. I can't really even put it into words. It was really special.

“They played really well. I thought it was going to be more of a game, but they shut USC down. They really shut Caleb Williams down.”

Cure will head to Auburn next weekend for a visit and will be at Oregon next month, but expects to return to South Bend as well in the future, possibly in January.

“They're definitely a top priority for me,” he said. “I feel like the school and the people fit me. Going forward, I'm going to have to pay a lot more attention to them.

“I love it, really. That's all I can really say about it. I love the feel of it. I love the people. I love the school. I loved the trip up here; loved the game, loved it all.”
