2025 S Micah Rice Enjoys Notre Dame Stop
Micah Rice made his first trip to Notre Dame this past weekend and the 2025 Ohio safety is glad he did.
“It went pretty good,” Rice told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was pretty fun. It was a good atmosphere too. It was really exciting.
“I got to see everything. We all started in the indoor practice facility. We walked out to the game of course. They had me go into this room with all the commits and then we all walked out to the field and talked to all the coaches. It was pretty cool. We got to see everything and of course, it was a good game.”
While in town, Rice had the chance to speak with some Notre Dame staffers.
“I got to talk to Coach (Chris) O'Leary, the safeties coach,” Rice said. “I got to talk to all the recruiting coordinators.”
O’Leary let the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder know there was preliminary interest on the Irish’s end.
“He said he was going to pick apart my film,” Rice said of O’Leary. “Only the recruiting coordinators so far have seen my film, so he said he has to see my film and he said he is going to start from there. He said he is really interested.”
Rice’s initial impression of O’Leary was a positive one.
“He kind of looks like a safety, so I've got to trust that he would be able to coach a safety,” Rice said.
Rice, who has an early offer from Kentucky, is teammates with 2024 Irish cornerback commit Karson Hobbs at Archbishop Moeller.
Rice is planning to check out Purdue this weekend, but intends to return to South Bend in the months to come.
“I think I'm coming back probably for the spring game or a spring practice. That'll be the next time I'll be up.”
