BREAKING | Grad Transfer WR Kris Mitchell Commits to Notre Dame

Need some positive Notre Dame receiver recruiting news? 

Well, Notre Dame has landed Florida International graduate transfer Kris Mitchell after a visit to South Bend over the weekend. 

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder brings experience, but also a high production to Notre Dame’s receiver room as he tallied 64 catches for 1,118 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games for FIU in 2023. 

Mitchell, a former two-star recruit, finished his career at FIU with 100 receptions for 1,663 yards and 12 touchdowns. 

In 2023, Mitchell topped the 100-yard receiving mark four times, including catching nine passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns against Maine in week two. It’s also worth noting Mitchell reeled in six catches for 157 yards and one score against Arkansas last month. 

Mitchell’s commitment was a welcome sight as Rico Flores Jr., Braylon James, Tobias Merriweather and Chris Tyree had all announced their intentions to transfer from Notre Dame within the last week. 

The Jacksonville (Fla.) native majored in Sports Management at FIU and was a member of the Mandarin Academic Honor Roll in high school. 

Mitchell’s younger brother, Nic, is a junior linebacker at Mississippi State, while his younger brother, Jon, is a 2024 Penn State cornerback commit and holds an offer from Notre Dame.
