BREAKING | 2025 OL Will Black Commits To Notre Dame
By the end of Will Black’s trip to Notre Dame this summer, the Irish knew they wanted the 2025 offensive lineman.
By the end of Black’s return to South Bend earlier this month, he knew Notre Dame was where he wanted to be.
So, on Thursday, Black announced his commitment to the Irish.
The Canadian gives Notre Dame 11 commitments in the Class of 2025 and its first offensive lineman.
The 6-foot-7, 295-pounder chose the Irish over offers from schools like Michigan, Penn State, Alabama, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Miami, Stanford and many others.
Black, who plays at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut, earned a scholarship offer from Notre Dame after working out at the Irish’s Lineman’s Challenge in June.
With all of his Choate games on Saturday afternoons, Black wasn’t able to hit the road in the fall until the end of November, when he made a trip to Ann Arbor to see Michigan play Ohio State.
Many took that as a sign that the Wolverines were the leader, but in reality, Black always planned on getting back to Notre Dame when he could.
He was able to get back last weekend to watch the Irish prepare for the Sun Bowl and spend more time with Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.
“He is a very good coach,” Black said of Rudolph. “He's like a master at offensive line. He knows how to develop guys. I really like him as a coach and as a person as well.
“He's a family man, so I really like that about him and super nice guy. He cares a lot about his players outside of football.”
Prior to the visit, Black talked about possible trips to Alabama, Penn State and Michigan. But coming out of it, he said he wasn’t sure he needed to and ultimately decided he did not.
With Black in the fold, Notre Dame would love to add some combination of Owen Strebig, Matty Augustine and Jack Lange to fill out their 2025 offensive line haul.
