The decision may have came a little sooner than he initially expected, but Will Black‍ Will Black is sure Notre Dame is the place for him, which is why the 2025 offensive lineman announced his commitment to the Irish on Thursday evening.

“It was the combination of the football program, producing offensive linemen as well as the academics there and the degree you get from Notre Dame,” Black told Irish Sports Daily.

Black, who chose Notre Dame over offers from Michigan, Alabama, Penn State and several others, was in South Bend for a visit last weekend and informed head coach Marcus Freeman and offensive line coach Joe Rudolph of his choice in person before leaving.

“They were super happy,” Black said. “They were yelling and hugging me and everything. They were super excited.

“It made me feel good. It made me feel like I’m a priority there.”

Black is excited about joining a 2025 Notre Dame recruiting class that already ranks as one of the best in the nation.

“I’ve talked to pretty much all of them,” he said. “It feels special. I think we’re number 1 or number 2 in the nation. It’s really exciting.”

He also plans on trying to get a couple other offensive linemen to join him at Notre Dame.

“Matty (Augustine) and Owen Strebig,” he said of the targets he has in mind.

Black doesn’t know when he’ll be back in South Bend, but is excited to have the recruiting process behind him.

“It feels really good to not have to worry about recruiting anymore and just be able to focus on myself.”
