2025 CB Commit Cree Thomas Talks Notre Dame Return
Cree Thomas was back in South Bend this weekend for the first time since the 2025 Arizona cornerback committed to Notre Dame.
“Every time I go back, it feels like home,” said Thomas, who announced his commitment to the Irish back in November, shortly after his previous visit to South Bend.
“ It's feeling more and more like it. I'm super happy with my decision so far.”
Thomas enjoyed another chance to sit down with Notre Dame cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens and head coach Marcus Freeman.
“I got to have some individual meetings with Coach Mickens and really talk about Notre Dame, the scheme and how I fit into the defense as a corner,” he said.
“They play a lot of man coverage. They ask a lot of man coverage from their corner. I know that I can do that as a player. I'm a long, lengthy cornerback, so I know I fit that scheme perfectly. I think that I play a lot like some of their corners; Ben Morrison, Cam Hart, I feel like I play a lot like they do, so I feel I can fit into the system pretty well.”
He also enjoyed the chance to hang out with his future teammates in the Irish’s 2025 recruiting class.
“We all seemed to click, so that was a good thing and just made the trip super fun,” he said. “I spent a lot of time with Ethan Long, Justin Thurman, Deuce Knight and CJ May. I spent a lot of time with them on Saturday. We were just talking a lot and then I hung out with Davion Dixon a lot.”
And Thomas took the occasion to get in the ear of some of the uncommitted visitors, including one top safety target from the state of Florida.
“Dallas Golden, I was talking to him a lot,” Thomas said. “We're definitely trying to get him to come be a part of our commit list.
“It's just trying to show him that Coach Freeman is building something special. Everything that Coach Freeman does and the staff does, it seems like they're going after the best. We needed an offensive coordinator, they got Coach (Mike) Denbrock. They're going after the best.
“It's not even just about football either. It's just about what Notre Dame can do for you for the rest of your life. I think it's cool for recruits to hear that, not from the perspective of a coach. I think it's cool for them to hear it just as from fellow players. I'm definitely just telling him the great things that Notre Dame can offer, and I hope that he saw it himself on Saturday.”
Thomas isn’t sure when he’ll be back on campus again, possibly in the summer.
“I know that official visits are happening soon, so I'll definitely probably be back up there for an official visit.”
