Report | Notre Dame Expected to Add Trent Miles to Support Staff
Notre Dame football is expected to add a key addition to its support staff as Trent Miles will return to South Bend, according to a report from the legendary John Brice of Football Scoop.com.
Miles, who coached at Notre Dame from 2002-2004, was a senior offensive analyst for the last two seasons at LSU and worked closely with new Irish offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock.
The Terre Haute (Ind.) native will bring not only a wealth of knowledge to the Notre Dame program but also head coaching experience. Miles was the head coach at his alma mater Indiana State from 2008-2012 before taking the head job at Georgia State where he held the position from 2013-2016 and was named the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year.
Miles also has a long-standing relationship with Notre Dame safeties coach Chris O’Leary. At Indiana State, O’Leary played for Miles, but also worked as a graduate assistant at Georgia State under his former head coach.
Following his stop at Georgia State, Miles left the college game and spent four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles where he was part of the staff that won Super Bowl LII. Miles served in an offensive quality control role and as an assistant running backs coach for the Eagles.
In all, Miles will bring over 30 years of coaching experience to the Notre Dame program, which will take the field next in its annual Blue-Gold Game on April 20th.
