Making Moves | Notre Dame Football on the Recruiting Trail 2.1
Notre Dame will look to put a stamp on the recruiting trail on Thursday as only head coach Marcus Freeman and cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens are expected to be traveling.
As always, the schedule is tentative and we wouldn’t be surprised to see coaches pop up at some high schools on Thursday.
Freeman and Mickens are expected in Northeast Ohio to start the day as there are a host of prospects in the Cleveland and Akron areas the Irish could check on.
One visit we do expect is to St. Ignatius High School to check on 2026 offensive lineman Will Conroy. The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder reeled in an offer from Ohio State earlier this month and we believe Notre Dame could be a major player here if an offer goes out.
Offers: Akron, Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, Central Florida, Florida, Indiana, Kent State, Miami, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oregon, Purdue, Toledo, Virginia Tech and West Virginia
Sophomore Highlights
2025 St. Ignatius safety Cody Haddad is a player the Irish will speak with as the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder recently committed to Wisconsin and then Ohio State and Texas A&M quickly offered. Haddad has visited Notre Dame multiple times in the last year, including for the win over Pitt in October.
Junior Highlights
Northeast Ohio prospects with Notre Dame offers:
2025 Cleveland Heights defensive lineman Brandon Caesar
2025 Cleveland Heights linebacker Marquise Davis
2025 Shaker Heights defensive back Trey McNutt III
2025 Villa Angela-St. Joseph athlete Bo Jackson
2026 Archbishop Hoban cornerback Elbert Hill IV
Caesar and McNutt have been to campus multiple times, but it doesn’t seem likely either will end up at Notre Dame at this stage. Hill camped at Notre Dame in June and left with an offer, but he did not return to campus in the fall, which was telling as he made several visit(s) to Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State.
Jackson has quietly tallied one of the nation's best offer lists and continues to not be talked about as much as he should. Notre Dame offered early, but Jackson has not shown much interest in the Irish.
2026 Archbishop Hoban offensive lineman Sam Greer made a fall visit to Notre Dame and could be an offer guy at some point, which would likely include an appearance at camp to get eyes on him for a workout. He currently holds offers from Akron, Central Michigan, Florida, Indiana, Kent State, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee and West Virginia.
Archbishop Hoban is also the home of 2025 Ohio State linebacker commit Eli Lee, who camped at Notre Dame over the summer, but he does not currently hold an offer from the Irish program.
Freeman and Mickens could very well swing by Avon Lake (Ohio) to get eyes on 2026 offensive lineman Maxwell Riley. The four-star prospect holds early offers from Boston College, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Tennessee, Toledo, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
