Mike Brown and Gino Guidugli are quite familiar with Naeem Burroughs‍ having coached the 2026 Florida receiver’s brother, Quincy, at both Cincinnati and then Wisconsin.

The now Notre Dame assistants visited Bolles School back in December, when they left a scholarship offer for the younger Burroughs.

“It felt good coming from a school like Notre Dame that is big on academics and football,” said Burroughs. “It's an opportunity to get the best of both worlds.”

Burroughs’ early offer sheet already includes schools like Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Penn State and Michigan among several others.

Still, the Notre Dame offer is one that grabbed his attention.

“I know it's a big-time school,” he said. “They're independent, but they play a variety of schools from different conferences. They're showing they're not scared of competition and they're ready to step up and play anybody.

“I had a great relationship with the coaches since they've been at Cincinnati. They went through it with my brother. When I was younger, I met them. Then they offered me at Cincinnati and over Wisconsin and now at Notre Dame. The relationship just kept growing.”

Burroughs’ brother transferred from Cincinnati to Wisconsin when Luke Fickell, Brown and Guidugli made the move to Madison. Burroughs said his brother has vouched for Brown and Guidugli.

“It is just easier to know that they're going to keep it real with me,” said Burroughs. “They're going to be honest with me; knowing they want me to have a great future, so they're going to be honest with me, tell me the things I need to hear, tell me the things that coaches really wouldn't say. It's just a great thing to have a relationship that I have with the coaches.”

Burroughs is hoping to visit South Bend soon, but doesn’t have a date to do so just yet.

“Just continue building a relationship, honestly, getting to meet the other coaches and probably getting up to the campus and seeing how I like the campus,” he said.

“Just energy, how the students at Notre Dame feel about the school. Just an all-around great feeling from the community, from the students, from coaches.”

Burroughs’ recruitment remains open, but he knows he needs to start evaluating schools.

“I'm still a sophomore and I'm getting to the point of where I need to start slimming down schools, but there are a lot of schools I really need to start seeing.”
