2026 CB Elijah Ward Set To Camp At Notre Dame In June
It’s early in the recruiting process for Elijah Ward, but the 2026 Kentucky cornerback is eager to get out and show college coaches what he can do.
“Being at the start of my career in high school, it's good to see places I have not been before, seeing new things I've never ever seen,” Ward said.
That’s what will bring the Frederick Douglass High School standout to South Bend for a camp at Notre Dame on June 17th.
“Mainly competing with other guys around the country and just giving the coaches a look at me, to see how I am,” Ward said of what he was hoping to do at the Irish’s camp session.
“Showing them my speed and my man coverage type of play, those key parts of my ability.”
Ward will also be at Monday’s Best of the Midwest Combine.
The 5-foot-9, 160-pounder is excited to compete.
“Of course,” he laughed. “That's the best part.”
Ward, who visited South Bend for a game last fall, is also looking forward to learning more about the Notre Dame program, school and coaching staff.
“The tradition,” he said. “That's what I mainly want to know, what makes it special.
“Every coach has a different style. I just want to see how that coach is and if I would go over there, how I would fit in.”
Ward has an early offer from Louisville and has received interest from other schools as well.
Colleges like Louisville, West Virginia, Michigan and others visited Frederick Douglass last month.
In addition to Notre Dame, Ward is hoping to make stops at Auburn, Tennessee, Louisville and Alabama this spring in summer.
He has an early idea of what he’ll be looking for in a college.
“Of course the education part of it, but also what's going on on the campus, as well as what the school looks like,” he said.
“Football isn't the top priority all the time and I know it's going to end soon. You've always got to have something you can fall back on.”
