Since committing to Notre Dame back in December, Will Black‍ has gotten a little company.

Black was the first offensive line pledge in the Irish’s 2025 recruiting class and was followed by Owen Strebig‍ and Matty Augustine‍, who each announced their commitments to Notre Dame in February.

“It feels really good,” Black says. “I'm super excited. I think we'll have a really good time together. We've already started to get to know each other, so I know I’m going to have a fun time with those two.”

The Choate standout understands the importance of a strong bond amongst offensive linemen and says the trio already has that.

“I feel like as an offensive line group, you guys do everything together,” Black says. “We're always together, we're always eating together, lifting weights together. Then, we have to trust each other on the field because we're working together as a unit. I think just knowing the person that you're playing beside the best will help you.”

Originally from Canada, Black transferred down to Choate before last season and plays in the same New England Prep League as Augustine, who plays for Brunswick.

“It's super cool,” Black says. “I think we're really proving that New England has good football and it's pretty exciting to be able to play with another prep school kid from Connecticut.”

Black will be back in South Bend for the Blue-Gold Game in April.

“I'm excited to see the new guys on the o-line, the younger guys on the o-line play and just see how the environment is,” he says. “I watched practice a couple months ago and that was super fun just to see how it is to be a player there. So it'll be super fun to watch the game. I can't wait for that.”

And, he’ll be back again for his official visit the weekend of June 14th.

“They haven't really told me too much about that, but I'm sure it'll be really fun,” says Black, who adds that the Irish are once again looking to host the offensive recruits on one weekend and the defensive prospects on another.

“They kind of separated the defense and the offense with the commits. So yeah, it will be fun with the whole offense.”
