2026 Notre Dame RB Target Savion Hiter Stands Out On & Off The Field

Savion Hiter‍ has been collecting big-time scholarship offers for more than a year now and on Sunday, the 2026 Virginia running back added Notre Dame to that list.

The Woodberry Forest star picked up his Irish offer as part of their Pot of Gold blitz. The 5-foot-11, 199-pounder also has offers from schools like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Texas, Oregon, Virginia and Virginia Tech among others.

“His work ethic,” advisor Adam McCann says of what makes Hiter a top national target. “Since I clicked on his film since his freshman year, I've always called him Reggie Bush 2.0, just without the speed, which his speed has gotten a lot better. He's running track, so he's going to be up there with his 40 times once he gets to running and stuff.

“Just his personality on and off the field and his game day speaks for itself, to be honest.”

Despite having top offers for years, McCann says Hiter is just beginning the serious part of recruiting now.

“He's basically just starting to process as far as reaching out to schools, getting on school campuses,” McCann says. “He went on a few visits last year. This year, he's going to be looking at some schools and getting on on campuses that he will want to build relationships in the future with.

“Then probably around June next year, he'll try to wind it down so we could get a good feel for it. He'll go into his senior year committed, hopefully. Go on campuses right now, enjoy some visits, enjoy some company.”

Hiter’s support circle is advising him on what he should be looking for during the preliminary visits.

““We're teaching him right now to love on the school first, just because of all the coaching changes and then love on the position coach,” MCCann says. “Whatever he feels after those two, then it's on him. He has his own list of things that he wants and doesn't like. He's basically trying to build some good relationships that would carry him over to helping him make the decision.”

So, Notre Dame isn’t late by any means.

“I've been told by some of the other Power Fives, 'Well, I look at his offer sheet. I don't think we have a chance,’” McCann recalls. “But then when they get on the phone with him, it's, 'Damn, I should have been on this kid.’

“He's not chasing NIL. He's just a kid soaking in the whole process. We've been keeping him levelheaded, which is where he's normally at. And he's a working beast. I think he's gained like 15 pounds since the offseason.”

Irish running backs coach Deland McCullough should have the opportunity to help Notre Dame become a factor.

“I think he's just a relationship guy as of right now,” says McCann.

“That's the biggest thing I've seen him gravitate towards is relationship and education, so Notre Dame has the education.”
