Notre Dame CB Clarence Lewis Enters Transfer Portal
Notre Dame might be on break for Easter, but that doesn’t mean business slows down as cornerback Clarence Lewis has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.
According to an ISD source, Lewis is listed as a graduate transfer in the portal, which isn’t a surprise as 2024 would have been his fifth year with the Notre Dame program.
Lewis has been a staple in the Notre Dame defensive backfield for the last four seasons. The New Jersey native has appeared in 50 career games for the Irish, including all 39 games the Notre Dame has played over the last three seasons.
For his career, Lewis registered 124 tackles, four tackles for loss, 18 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and three interceptions in the blue and gold.
Lewis’ most productive season came in 2021 as a sophomore, where he tallied 54 tackles, four pass breakups, one sack and one interception. As a freshman, Lewis set a career-high with 12 tackles against Syracuse.
The Notre Dame cornerback room will take another hit this spring with Lewis leaving as All-American cornerback Benjamin Morrison is out following shoulder surgery. That will pave the way for Jaden Mickey, Chance Tucker, Micah Bell and Christian Gray to get a ton of work, while leaving the door open for June arrivals Leonard Moore and Karson Hobbs.
Graduate transfer Jordan Clark and Bell have been working at nickel, which is a position Lewis has played off and on over the last two seasons.
