2026 Notre Dame OL Target Tyler Merrill Stands Out Among Standouts
HACKENSACK, N.J. - Tyler Merrill arrived here this weekend ready to compete at the New Jersey version of the Under Armour Next Camp on Sunday.
The 2026 Pennsylvania offensive lineman certainly did that and then some as the 6-foot-5, 305-pounder walked away with MVP honors among the offensive linemen.
The Cumberland Valley standout was there to compete on the field, not to compete for attention as he already has received plenty of that.
Merrill has dozens of offers from some of the nation’s top programs, including Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Texas A&M and several others.
“I've had some coaches come in and out of the high school,” Merrill said of the contact period that has begun.
He’s expecting to see the Irish soon.
“They're going to be stopping by around mid-May,” said Merrill.
Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph is a major reason why Merrill has such a high opinion of the Irish. Rudolph and Merrill have a relationship that dates back to Rudolph’s days at Virginia Tech.
Merrill, who picked up his offer from the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, has already made a couple trips to South Bend and intends to return this year, although it may not be right away.
“I'm not really sure about this summer,” he said. “But definitely looking into coming for a game in the Fall.
“We'll see. I have nothing locked in yet. I'm still trying to figure out if I'm going to do any college camps this summer.”
He does have one visit locked in elsewhere.
“I'm headed to Michigan,” he said. “They have a Big House BBQ, so that's what I'm going to do. Other than that, I don't have anything solidified yet.”
