2025 Hoops Target Ryder Frost Talks Notre Dame Offer
Ryder Frost had been communicating with Notre Dame assistant Mike Farrelly for the past few months.
On Tuesday, the 2025 Massachusetts small forward got the call from Irish head coach Micah Shrewsberry.
“I had been in contact with Coach Farrelly,” the Phillips Exeter Academy standout said. “Over the winter was when he first reached out and we had been in contact. Then, they said they were going to be at some of my games this spring.
“They both saw me play and Coach Shrewsberry just called me, talked to me a little bit and offered me on the phone.”
The 6-foot-6, 205-pounder was excited to add the offer.
“I was just super pumped. I actually have a friend - Brady (Stevens) - who's going there next year. He just had nothing but great things to say.
The Irish told Frost they like his ability to shoot and his work ethic and had heard great things about him from those around him, including Phillips Exeter Academy coach Jay Tilton and Mike Crotty, his AAU coach with the Middlesex Magic.
“I think they really respect the coaches I play for,” he said. “I think they just thought it would be a good fit.
“Coach Crotty's had great things to say, so I was just really grateful for the opportunity and I'm looking forward to just figuring everything out. It should be fun.
One of the next steps for Frost is getting to South Bend.
“Probably just getting up to campus soon; just keep developing a relationship with Coach Shrewsberry and Coach Farrelly and all the coaches,” he said. “Just getting up to campus and seeing around and meeting some of the players and getting to see the facilities and kind of all that, just building the relationship.”
First isn’t sure when he’ll get to campus yet, though.
“Nothing official yet, but definitely want to get out there soon; over the summer,” he said. “So no official date yet, but we will figure it out.”
Frost doesn’t have any visits elsewhere set either.
“I know I definitely want to get out and visit some schools after school gets out next week,” he said. “I'll be figuring that out soon, but nothing official yet.”
His offer sheet also includes schools like Syracuse, Wake Forest, NC State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Iowa and Minnesota among several others. Frost says he doesn’t have any standouts just yet.
“I would say I'm really just taking everything in at this point, not excluding anyone and just seeing what comes my way and making the decision as we go,” he said. “I wouldn't say there's anyone that's counted out right now.”
He’s hoping to make that decision sometime toward the end of summer and beginning of fall. He has a few factors that will be key when he’s making is choice.
“I would say definitely the relationships with the coaching staff, how I fit in with the play style and with the players. Education is definitely really important for me. Getting a good education and just overall how I feel supported around the coaching staff and the play style.”
