Gordy Sulfsted’s commitment to Notre Dame on Sunday didn’t come out of the blue.

It just seemed that way.

For months, the Irish staff were evaluating defensive linemen from coast to coast. They eventually locked on the 6-foot-5, 240-pound Sulfsted and made their move.

But they did so quietly.

The St. Xavier standout certainly had other big-time offers and appeared set to decide between Duke and Wisconsin with official visits scheduled to each in early-June.
