2026 WR Messiah Hampton Receiving Serious Early Interest

Messiah Hampton‍ is taking the recruiting process in stride.

“Everything is going good; just taking some visits here and there,” the 2026 New York receiver told ISD. “Recently, I've been to Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, and Pitt.

“I've got some camps coming up. I've got Michigan coming up, Wisconsin and Toledo.”

The Rochester, N.Y., native has double-digit offers from schools like Syracuse, Rutgers, Penn State, Pitt, West Virginia and Wisconsin among others.

“It's really a dream come true,” the James Monroe High School standout said. “Since I was young, I always knew I wanted this dream and to have all these offers, but I never really thought this would really be my life and it would actually happen.”

College coaches like what they see from the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder.

“They say they like my skillset, how good I am in route-running and how I break down the route and just getting out of my breaks fast and that I'm a lengthy receiver who can run with speed and twitchiness,” he said.

Hampton has received some preliminary interest from the Irish, but hasn’t had any true communication to this point.

“I don't really know too much yet, but I look forward to learning more about Notre Dame, the program and everything,” he said. 

Hampton to hoping to make a decision some time next summer, but said it could come as early as February.

“Definitely the relationship because I want to be in a place where I have a good relationship with the people,” he said of what will matter most when he’s picking a school.

“The receivers coach and the offensive coordinator, the coaches. I would like coaches that have a good resume and have experience coaching good receivers.”

He isn’t all that concerned with what offensive system he’ll play in.

“I feel like that's a high value of mine, that I could fit well in any offense.”
