2027 WR Jamier Brown Returns To Notre Dame For Irish Invasion

It was a short turnaround for Jamier Brown‍ from track to football for the 2027 Ohio athlete.

One day after competing at the Ohio High School State Track meet, the 6-foot, 170-pounder was in South Bend competing at Notre Dame’s Irish Invasion.

“It went alright,” Brown said after the camp. “I've still got a lot to work on. I just got done with track, so I haven't really got enough football work in, but besides everything else, I feel like it went well.”

At one point, Irish head coach Marcus Freeman even pulled Brown aside for a chat.

“I had cramped up a lot,” Brown said. “He was just asking me how I was feeling and that's good that he checks up on me to make sure I'm OK. They just don't like to win. They want to help you be a good person on and off the field. That's what I like about Notre Dame.

“They take care of their players and they just don't care about straight football. They care about football and life.”

Brown, who was offered a scholarship by the Irish back in February, attends the same Wayne High School that Freeman and Notre Dame assistant Mike Mickens attended.

“It's great because I know they'll take care of me, keep me on my toes and just help me be the best I can be,” he said.

Brown felt he did good with his footwork and the drills, but wants to work on being more patient with his routes.

He enjoyed being coached by Irish receivers coach Mike Brown.

“It was great working with him,” Brown said. “He was teaching everybody, so it was a great experience, especially getting coached by somebody who's already been through this level and experienced it. It was great.”

Brown, who visited South Bend over the winter, knows the Irish will be in touch and he’s looking forward to returning to South Bend when he can.

The Irish are among his early leaders.

“I could see myself going to Notre Dame,” he said. “That's one of the top schools I would go to right now. Probably them and Penn State, so they're definitely on my list to go to.

“The history and how they take care of their players. The last time I was here, the athletic director told me what they do and how they take care of their players. I feel like they really focus on their players a lot to keep them healthy, make sure they're safe and injury-free.

“Once again, they don't care about just football. It's more than just football at Notre Dame, I feel like I'd go to any school that doesn't care just about winning. If they care about you being a great person in life, period instead of just on the field.”

Next up for Brown are camps at Ohio State and Penn State.
