2025 CB Commit Cree Thomas Talks Notre Dame Official
Cree Thomas has been locked in with Notre Dame since announcing his commitment to the Irish back in November.
But after an official visit to South Bend this past weekend, the 2025 Arizona cornerback is even more locked in now.
“It was amazing,” Thomas told Irish Sports Daily. “It made me feel like I made the right choice. Notre Dame is incredible and the coaching staff and everyone just reaffirmed that this weekend.
“The main thing was that family culture that Notre Dame has built. We even got to go to Coach Freeman's house. There aren't too many head coaches in the country who are letting recruits and their entire families come to their house and welcome them in so nicely. It was definitely just amazing and it showed me that when I get to Notre Dame, I'm going to be taken care of.”
The Brophy Prep star called the opportunity to hang out with fellow cornerback commits Mark Zackery IV and Dallas Golden “awesome.”
“We definitely bonded,” he continued. “I know that we're going to just continue to get closer and it's going to be awesome being able to challenge each other in practice every single day. These are going to be the guys that we're practicing with and we're in the weight room with, we're on the field with. The more connected we are, the better players we're going to make each other.
“I want to be the best football player that I can be, and so it's important for me to be surrounded with guys who also want to be great and who are also talented football players. I'm just excited to be able to be in that room and get pushed by them day in and day out.”
He also made sure to get in the ears of uncommitted targets Madden Faraimo and Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, who were in town on officials as well.
“I think that they really enjoyed their time,” he said. “Us commits were trying to pressure them a little bit, telling them to make the move. But I feel like in my heart, those guys will thrive at Notre Dame and I'm super excited to see what they choose here in the next couple of months.
“We're not going to pressure them too hard. The recruiting process is already stressful as it is. But we're really just showing them that we're a family and that they're going to be taken care of, and we're just showing them the tradition and that we can win some serious games here if we put together this class.”
Thomas also appreciated the chance to spend more time with Irish defensive backs coach Mike Mickens.
“Coach Mickens is my guy. He's been my guy. We have a super genuine connection and I love chopping it up with him every time I'm back there. He's definitely the corners coach that I would definitely want to play for.”
