2025 S Commit Ethan Long Sees, Feels The Future At Notre Dame

Ethan Long‍ felt it and so did his parents.

When the 2025 Notre Dame safety commit walked out of the tunnel and onto the field at Notre Dame Stadium for the first time during this past weekend’s official visit.

“It was really just like, 'Wow, I really made it,’” Long told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “All the hate and all the doubt, I really proved everyone wrong and I'm just one step closer to my goal.

“That really meant a lot to me; being able to dap up Coach (Marcus) Freeman and jog out to my parents who were actually tearing up. I hate to call them out like that, but they were really emotional and so was I, because that was our dream, that was our goal and we achieved it together.”

Overall, the official visit couldn’t have been much better for the Brunswick School (Conn.) standout.

“It went great,” he said. “It was unimaginable. It was like I was living in a-whole-nother world. I truly felt that it was like my family and I feel like I belong there for sure. I have no more questions about it.”

Long and the other visiting recruits toured campus and enjoyed a cookout at Freeman’s house.

Hanging around with his fellow commits was another highlight of the trip for Long.

“It was awesome,” he said. “We had a good time together. We're really like a brotherhood already; just being around Ivan (Taylor), Deuce (Knight), Eli (Burress), Jerome (Bettis), Matty (Augustine), Owen (Strebig), Davion (Dixon), Chris (Burgess), Justin (Thurman), all those guys.

“They're all so amazing. It doesn't matter what side of the ball we're on, offense or offense, we're going to be a brotherhood and we're going to have each other's backs and we're going to be a family.”

Long is convinced his class is ready to make a huge impact in South Bend.

“I think we just believe in each other that we can really make history at Notre Dame,” he said. “We feel like we have the right group to do it. We know we're a special group and we're all gifted and we're really just going to dig into that and take it all in.”

Long also enjoyed his meetings with the Irish coaches.

“They were awesome,” he said. “They kept it real. They said, 'We're going to do what's best for you. We're going to keep it real with you, tell you the truth, what you need to approve on.'

“And that's what I want. I want to become the best player I can be become, and that's what they expect. They want me to be my best and I want them to be at their best with me.”
