2026 LB Thomas Davis Jr. Previews Notre Dame Return

Since visiting in April, Thomas Davis Jr.‍, has kept in touch with Notre Dame and the 2026 North Carolina linebacker is excited about returning to South Bend for this Thursday’s Grill And Chill.

“Just continuing to build a relationship, just have a good time with the staff and just continue to develop that relationship,” Davis said of what he’s looking forward to most about his return.

The Weddington High School standout has kept in contact with Irish linebackers coach Max Bullough, defensive coordinator Al Golden and Assistant to the General Manager Carter Auman.

“They're very genuine, down to earth and then coaching-wise, they run an NFL-style defense and they've been developing guys and that's what they're going to do,” Davis said of the Irish coaches. 

There’s nothing specific Davis feels he needs to see or learn about during this trip, although he acknowledged getting a feel for the other top 2026 targets and commits who will also be in attendance could be key.

“Hopefully we can pull out the best class wherever I end up going,” he said.

He knows of at least one Irish commit who will be in town.

“I know Noah Grubbs‍ is going to be there,” he said of the Irish’s 2026 quarterback commit. “I talk to him often on social media. He messaged me not too long ago.”

Grubbs’ pitch has been a simple one.

“Just continue to see what I want out of the school and continue to visit,” Davis said of what Grubbs has been saying. “Give them a chance and see where it goes from there and hopefully commit and then bring other guys with me.”

Davis isn’t sure what other visits he may make this summer.

“Not that I know of yet, but I'm sure something might come up,” he added,

He’s hoping to be back at Notre Dame for a game and is also looking at potential trips to Oregon, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Texas A&M this fall.
