They expect perfection and strive to be perfect all the time. - 2019 DE Zach Harrison on Notre Dame's practice
The 6-foot-5, 242-pounder recently visited Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn State unofficially and got a better feel of the Midwest programs.

“Coach Mattison told me he wants to coach me,” Harrison said of his trip to Ann Arbor. “He said that to me and walked away. It resonated with me a lot. I am definitely going to get up there again.

“I want to get up there for a game so that I can see the game day environment.”

On his trips, the Ohio native is looking to get a feel for the people around the program. He isn’t close to a decision so find the schools that he can see himself fitting in is steps number one.

“I am looking at the people,” explained Harrison. “I want to get a feel for the players, staff, trainers, and to see if I can get along with them. I want to see if I can see myself there.”

The prevailing thought is Harrison is a lock to go to Ohio State. Harrison lives about 15 minutes from the Ohio State campus, but he remains very open to all programs.

“Not really,” Harrison stated when asked if he was a fan of the Buckeyes. “I didn’t get into watching football until about three or four years ago. The whole Ohio State thing doesn’t sway my mind very much.”

Harrison visited South Bend last week for the second time and came away impressed.

“I spoke to Coach (Brian) Kelly and watched a practice,” said Harrison. “I toured the facilities too.”

During practice, Harrison saw intensity and attention to detail, which are things Kelly has preached all spring.

“It was intense,” stated Harrison. “They expect perfection and strive to be perfect all the time. You can tell that by the way they coach.”

Harrison got a bold message from Kelly during his visit. The head coach explained why Notre Dame was different and it was a pitch Harrison enjoyed hearing.

“He was telling me about how Notre Dame can offer me things you can’t get other places in regards to football and academics,” said Harrison. “He said it was hard to find and if I came to Notre Dame that’s what I would get.”
