Notre Dame has been scouring the country looking for wide receiver prospects in the final months of the 2025 cycle and Boone (Orlando, Fla.) High School head coach Andy Johnson isn’t surprised they found his receiver, Isaiah Mizell‍.

“He's really freaking good,” Johnson says of Mizell. “He averages almost a touchdown about every third time he touches the ball. He's got legit elite speed, 10.4 in the 100. This is only his third year playing football.

“He was a soccer guy, so he's still learning the game and to be as productive as he's been is pretty crazy. He's just a special talent really.”

Mizell is currently committed to Arizona is the younger brother of current Florida Gator receiver Aidan Mizell.

“Both really elite talent kids, big-time speed, athleticism, the whole deal,” Johnson says of the brothers.

With the younger Mizell having only played the game a few years, his ceiling remains extremely high.

“Just the polish of running routes and those things,” Johnson says of where Mizell could improve. “He's still learning and he's the first to admit it. There are certain routes that he needs to keep perfecting his craft, having a natural feel for working through different kinds of coverages, finding soft spots and coverages, stuff like that.

“But his natural ability to attack the football, high-point the football, make tough catches, that's natural. There's a lot of room for growth. I think we're just starting to scratch the surface of how good he really is going to be.”

Off the field, Mizell checks the boxes, according to his coach.

“He's a really good kid,” Johnson says. “He's got a good personality. He's a really good teammate. He's friends with everybody. He interacts with every kid on the roster, which is a good thing. He works with the younger receivers during practice. His teachers have all just said the most glowing things about him.

“He's always just done a really good job outside of football. He's been really good in the weight room. He's a lean kid, but he's got good strength for his size and weight. He's obviously really explosive, so there's a natural component there too, obviously, but he works at it.”

Mizell obviously has some decisions to make now that Notre Dame is an option and while Johnson doesn’t inject himself into the process, he understands his player is likely to consider the new opportunity.

“I kind of leave that to my players. I don't really get too involved with that. I want them to make their own decisions with their families, but I think it definitely piqued his interest for sure. I think it's one of those programs that should always be in play if they come into the picture, in my opinion.”
