BREAKING | Notre Dame Lands 2025 PF Brady Koehler
Notre Dame is on the board in the Class of 2025 as the Irish landed a commitment from Indianapolis Cathedral (Ind.) power forward Brady Koehler.
The 6-foot-8, 180-pounder took an official visit to Notre Dame earlier this month and made the new official on Monday evening as his relationship with Micah Shrewsberry and his staff were too strong to pass up.
“The important factors in my decision were just the amazing relationship that I have built with Coach Shrews and the entire staff,” Koehler told ISD. “Even the players, I feel like I’m already connected with them. Another thing is definitely the style of play Coach Shrews implements, which is really similar to my high school’s style, so it should be a seamless transition.”
Shrewsberry has brought an NBA style of play to Notre Dame as there is a heavy defensive emphasis, but on the other end, the offense has some freedom, which is a plus for Koehler.
“They play fast and pretty freely,” said Koehler, who averaged 12.1 ppg and 6.5 rpg in 2023-24. “They are going to have me where I feel most comfortable on the wing.”
Koehler did his research on Notre Dame and the direction in which Shrewsberry's program is headed.
“Coach Shrews is taking Notre Dame in a great direction with all of the people and players in his program all in about everything ND basketball,” Koehler stated. “Everything I ever hear about Coach Shrews and anyone part of Notre Dame is nothing but great things.”
The Indiana native also takes a great deal of pride in staying in-state for college. It’s also a big win for Shrewsberry as he looks to make some noise in Indiana on the recruiting trail, which includes recruiting his alma mater.
“It’s really cool to have the opportunity to be at Notre Dame because everyone I know is invested in Notre Dame sports and just the school,” said Koehler. “Now I get to be a part of it. It’s also cool that Coach Shrews and I went to the same high school.”
