Notre Dame recruits every corner of the country, including high schools 10 minutes down the road.

2026 Penn (Ind.) receiver Tayshon Bardo‍ will take an unofficial visit to Notre Dame for Saturday’s clash against Louisville and it’s always been a dream to be recruited by the Fighting Irish.

“I’ve always watched Notre Dame as not only an in-state kid, but I’m literally in Notre Dame's backyard,” Bardo told ISD. “Seeing the stadium every other day, knowing the history behind the football program and going to games as a kid has just always been a dream for me.”

The visit will also present an opportunity for Bardo to feel out the Notre Dame coaching staff, while also allowing them to do the same.

“I just want to see a great atmosphere, connect with coaches and create strong relationships,” said Bardo.

Bardo is having a big start to his junior year, which has earned him offers from Louisville, Toledo and Vanderbilt since the 2024 season started.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder has recorded 16 receptions for 284 yards and seven touchdowns in five games. Bardo believes his speed has allowed him to separate from the competition and what has driven interest from colleges.

“My game has grown in every aspect,” stated Bardo. “It has grown the most with my change of pace, and my speed has grown a lot, I feel like.”

Penn’s newest star is handling the new recruiting attention in stride. Like every kid, Bardo is embracing the attention from programs across the country, but he’s also not letting it change his approach to the season.

“I’ve dealt with the recruiting attention in the most humble way possible,” explained Bardo. “I’m still focusing on this season with my team and getting better every day, not only for myself but for my team.”

It’s likely only a matter of time before Bardo becomes one of the most coveted receivers in the Midwest, and he hopes Notre Dame joins the race.

“There are offers out there that i want,” said Bardo. “Notre Dame would definitely mean a lot to me if I got that offer.”

Offers: Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Louisville, Miami (OH), Southeast Missouri State, Toledo, Vanderbilt and Western Michigan
