2018 Cy-Fair (Texas) cornerback Erick Hallett had circled his Notre Dame visit for weeks, and it didn’t disappoint the 5-foot-10, 170-pouner. The three-star prospect had a better time than he even thought he would and was at a loss of words on Sunday night.
“We don’t have anything in the South like Notre Dame. It has a unique feel to it. I can’t explain it.”
Hallett got to experience what Notre Dame has to offer its football players, but he also got to hear what they have planned for the future.
“I got there and toured the facilities,” said Hallett. “I saw the weight room and the indoor field. They told me they were building another one across the street where the practice fields are. It’s supposed to be crazy.
“We then walked around the stadium a little bit and then watched the game.”
The stadium renovation was a major positive for Hallett, and it’s something he feels the Irish will only benefit from the makeover.
“It was by far the best I’ve ever seen,” stated Hallett. “They are about to revolutionize the game. It was just awesome.”
The Texas native also got to spend time with the coaching staff. The staff will be down to see him in a few weeks, and he hopes he can show them he is worth an offer.
“I spoke to Coach (Mike) Elko and Coach (Todd) Lyght,” Hallett explained. “They told me they appreciated me coming up on my own dime and I jumped high on the board. They are going to recruit me hard, and they will be down to see me in the spring to make a final decision. I’m cool with that.”
Hallett also got to connect with a couple of guys from his home state, including his former teammate Brock Wright.
“I got to speak with Avery Davis a little bit,” said Hallett. “I talked to Brock as well. Brock was a former teammate of mine, so it was good to connect with him.
“Oh my God. He’s a lot bigger. He’s gotten crazy big. It was great to see him.”

“I loved it,” Hallett told Irish Sports Daily. “The campus is unbelievable, and it’s so beautiful. I loved the tradition and the facilities. I loved it all. “We don’t have anything in the South like Notre Dame. It has a unique feel to it. I can’t explain it.”
