2026 DT Jaimeon Winfield Excited About Notre Dame Offer
Jaimeon Winfield saw an impressive offer sheet become even more impressive this week as the 2026 Texas defensive lineman collected scholarships from Georgia and Notre Dame along with a couple others.
The Richardson High School standout already had offers from schools like Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma, LSU, Florida State, Auburn, Arkansas, Michigan, Washington and USC among others.
Winfield received the Irish offer from defensive line coach Al Washington.
“Coach hit me up and said I'm one of the top d-tackles that he has seen, so he was going to go on and offer me,” Winfield explained.
“I was very excited. I'm thrilled to have an opportunity to go play for a great brand, obviously they did great things this year. So it's just an amazing opportunity.”
Winfield was honored to receive an offer from Notre Dame, especially after their 2024 season.
“Obviously, they just went to one of the biggest stages in college football,” he said. “That alone just intrigues you about the school.”
Winfield’s first impression of Washington was a positive one.
“He's a great dude with a great personality, cool guy,” Winfield said of Washington.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder is hoping to make his way to South Bend for a visit.
“Hopefully get there soon, go try to check it out, look around, see the environment, try to get a feel for it,” he said. “That's the next step.
“I want to find out about the culture and build connections with the people around, get good connections with the people around and get to see them in person.”
Winfield doesn’t have any visits set up right now and doesn’t have a timeline for cutting his list or making a final decision.
“I have not decided yet.”
