Liam Conlon made his way to South Bend for the first time this past weekend and the 2028 Massachusetts linebacker left impressed.
“It was awesome,” said Conlon. “It was really impressive. I was connecting with the coaches and everything, touring the campus, watching practice, connecting with players. It was great.”
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Conlon was impressed with campus.
“It's really nice,” he said. “It has a rich feeling to it of history and greatness and they're really building something special there. You can feel it. They’re doing a lot of construction currently. I can't imagine how they're making the campus any better because it'll all be new soon.”
Conlon called the practice session he witnessed “awesome.”
“Everything was very precise and intentional,” he added. “It was great to watch. Everyone worked hard. They brought the energy for sure.”
Conlon has early offers from Boston College, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Syracuse.
“It's a blessing,” he said. “I appreciate that people are noticing the work I've been putting in and it feels good to have that stuff paying off. I'm just hungry and I want more and that's all. I just want to keep working and getting better.”
Notre Dame hasn’t offered yet, but the Irish haven’t truly begun sending out offers in the Class of 2028 either.
“I'm pretty young still,” Conlon said. “I'm definitely on their radar, which is great. I'm just going to continue to keep building a relationship. I'm wicked excited. I'm looking forward to the future and getting back down there soon.”
While in South Bend, he spent a good chunk of time with Irish linebackers coach Max Bullough.
“He's awesome,” said Conlon. “He's a coach that I would love to play for for sure. He brought the energy. When he was breaking down film, you could just tell he's wicked knowledgeable and very down to earth and a very nice guy.”
The Catholic Memorial standout was also able to connect with former Catholic Memorial stars Guerby Lambert and Boubacar Traore while in town as well as linebacker Preston Zinter.
“We work out together with Dana Barry and Coach Jay Fielding,” Conlon said of himself and Zinter.
Conlon didn’t make many visits this spring, but said he wanted to make Notre Dame “a priority.”
He doesn’t know when he’ll be back, but hopes to take in a game this fall.
Notre Dame certainly has his attention.
“The thing I really love is the Gold Standard and how they hold themselves and how everyone is wicked focused,” he said. “Everyone works hard and coaches push you to reach your full potential. That's something that's big they were talking about. They were also talking about me versus me, which is something that I really like and I could relate to a lot.”
