2027 QB Teddy Jarrard Set To Visit Notre Dame
Notre Dame’s quest to solidify its quarterback board in the Class of 2027 continues and a name that could be a serious factor in it all is Teddy Jarrard.
The Georgia signal-caller has thrown for Irish quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli, has kept in touch with him over the phone and will soon visit him in South Bend.
“He came and saw me a couple weeks ago during spring practice,” Jarrard said of Guidugli. “We had been talking a little bit prior on the phone and stuff. He wanted to see me throw, so he came out and watched me throw, really liked it. We talked for a while, just going over scheme and stuff.
“We had a good connection and I feel like afterwards he wanted me to come up and meet the head coach and all that, so I scheduled my visit. I'm just ready to get up there and see him all.”
The North Cobb High School standout currently has offers from schools like Georgia, Auburn, Miami, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State and Ohio State among others.
The Irish have yet to offer a quarterback in the Class of 2027.
“He said as of right now, they're looking at probably about three or four quarterbacks,” Jarrard said of Guidugli. “I don't know where he is on the offer standpoint or whatever, but at my point, I'm just trying to figure out where I want to go. That's one of the summer places I'm going to visit and I really like, so that's my standpoint on it right now.”
Jarrard’s interest in the Irish is obvious considering his willingness to visit without an offer and Guidugli is a major reason for that.
“He's a great guy to be around and a good quarterback coach, so that's one part,” said Jarrard. “Then, also Notre Dame's history, great program and all that. Also, a great academic school. I think it'd be an honor to play for them. It's a place I just want to visit, get that done and go from there basically.”
Jarrard will be looking to get a sense of the people when he visits South Bend on June 5th.
“Honestly, just relationships,” he said of what he’ll be looking to see. “All the flashy stuff doesn't really matter. Everybody has it nowadays. I think really the biggest thing is just meeting the staff, getting around them and seeing what it would be like to be a player there.”
He’s got a busy visit schedule coming up. In addition to Notre Dame, he has stops planned at Georgia, Clemson, Penn State, Arkansas, Ohio State and LSU.
“After the summer period and all these visits, I'm going to probably trim down the list, probably make a Top 10 and go from there basically,” he said.
Jarrard already has a clear outline in his head of what will matter the most to him when he’s picking a school.
“Scheme, development and relationships with coaches,” said Jarrard, who added he wanted to be a pro-style, quarterback-friendly offense where he would have the freedom to make checks at the line of scrimmage.
“I want to be somewhere where I'm wanted,” he continued. “At the end of the day, I don't want to go to a quarterback room where there's 10 quarterbacks. I want to go somewhere where I have an opportunity to play and compete for the starting job.”
