2028 QB Donald Tabron II Enjoys Early Look At Notre Dame
It may be early, but Donald Tabron II’s offer sheet is impressive in both quality and quantity.
The 2028 Michigan quarterback has dozens of offers from schools like Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Pitt, Miami, Auburn, Kentucky and Oregon among many others.
The Cass Tech standout made his way to Notre Dame last week to throw for quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli at Irish Invasion.
“It was great,” Tabron told ISD afterward. “It was a great camp. I got to talk to Coach Gino, got a little bit of the competitive spirit right at the end of the camp. I got to throw a little bit of one-on-ones and then after I got the grill, got to get on the grill. We got second place, which isn't bad, but the whole day was just amazing.”
There seemed to be some controversy amongst the recruits regarding the order of finish with the tight ends arguing they should have been second, although both groups agree on first being well-deserved.
“I give it to the linemen because the linemen had a master chef on their team or something like that,” Tabron said. “So I give it to the linemen, but the quarterbacks, we had a great presentation and the food tasted amazing, so I feel like we had a solid, solid second place.”
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound sophomore-to-be was happy with his performance during the on-field drills as well.
“I think I performed well in the routes on air,” he explained. “I think I placed the ball really well and then in the one-on-ones, there were a few receivers I didn't know, so I had to get used to them, but once I did that, it was bombs away.”
The feedback from Guidugli and the rest of the staff was positive.
“For me, it was just them telling me to keep doing what I'm doing, keep growing each day, get one percent better,” Tabron recalled. “And then as I get into the season with my team, just grow as a leader, be that guy for my team who makes everybody around me better.”
Tabron appreciated the style of the Irish coaches.
“They were really energetic,” he said. “They're not really the coaches who are just standing around to watch. They're getting out there showing us the drills, being really active with us; really energetic and also a fun style of coaching.”
The Grill & Chill afterward was another highlight for Tabron.
“It was amazing,” he said. “The coaches were around. They got to watch us grill, of course amazing recruits around us. We got to talk, get to know each other a little bit. The atmosphere was amazing. It was chill. We got to talk and it was just all around nice.”
Tabron visited Purdue after Notre Dame and camped at Ohio State on Tuesday before upcoming stops at Oregon and LSU.
He plans to stay in touch with the Notre Dame staff to continue building relationships and possibly return for a game in the fall, but left South Bend with a better understanding of the University.
“I got a more in-depth view of the Notre Dame network, the people in it, the former football players, people who have gone to school there, and just the all-around culture of Notre Dame.”
