2026 Notre Dame offensive line commit Sullivan Garvin‍ as made several trips to South Bend over the past year and the Michigan native made the short 90-minute drive again this weekend for his official visit.

The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder is one of four current offensive line commits in Notre Dame’s 2026 class, but the Irish are looking to add a fifth, and this visit gave Garvin a chance to help in that effort.

“It was great,” Garvin told ISD. “It was a lot of fun. Everyone was just hanging out. It wasn’t a specific group. Everyone was talking and having a good time. Getting back here with all the offensive line guys was awesome. Meeting Grayson McKeogh‍ was nice and he’s a great guy. He’d fit well with this class.”

Garvin made sure to build a relationship with McKeough while balancing recruiting him and not being too pushy.

“He’s a great guy,” said Garvin. “I think he really liked Notre Dame. Who knows where he’ll go, but I think we have a good shot. We’ll see.”

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman also made sure to spend plenty of time with the Michigan native on this trip.

“I met with Coach Freeman in his office,” explained Garvin. “Catching him in passing was great. In his office, we talked about everything. We talked about how I did at Invasion, my testing numbers and my future here. He said I remind him of Ashton Craig, which was cool.”

After working out for offensive line coach Joe Rudolph just a week ago, this trip was more about strengthening relationships and becoming even more comfortable with Notre Dame.

“Coach Rudolph and Coach Rob (Delaney) are great people,” stated Garvin. “We can talk about anything with them. It’s usually not even about football.”

On Friday night, Freeman hosted all the official visitors at his compound, which was a big hit with the recruits and their families.

“It was crazy,” Garvin said. “We had a big tent with dinner. He had a pool, a basement and a basketball court. We all got haircuts. He had three barbers. It was Juilo (Rodriguez), who travels with the team. His setup is just insane.”

24 hours later, Garvin and the rest of the visitors found themselves doing Notre Dame’s Legacy Walk.

It can be an emotional moment as the staff creates a game day type of walk across campus with it ending on the field in Notre Dame Stadium.

“It was special,” Garvin said. “We started in the Basilica and headed out. We met some players. Antonie Knapp told us his story and then Aamil Wagner, Jaden Greathouse and Adon Shuler. We did the team prayer, walked out of the tunnel and Here Come the Irish came on and we ran out. It was fun.”

Freeman made sure to spice up the moment when the recruits walked down the tunnel.

“We were kind of confused, and Javian (Osborne) ran out there by himself,” recalled Garvin. “He brought us in and said, “If we’re going to run out, we’re going to do this the right way.’ He gave us a hype-up speech and we ran out. They gave us our jerseys. The white jerseys were for the offense and blue was for the defense.”

And of course, no official visit would be complete without some top-tier food. For Garvin, Saturday’s cookout stole the show.

“I would have to say yesterday they got all the grills out for us again,” said Garvin. “They had steak, chicken and salmon. I grilled myself three steaks. I had one and then I made two more. After we left the grills, they had some mac and cheese, sliders - it was good.”
