2027 Legacy OL James Halter Recaps Recent Notre Dame Stop
James Halter has been to Notre Dame multiple times over the years and the 2027 Pennsylvania legacy offensive lineman was back earlier this month for Irish Invasion.
“It went pretty well,” Halter told Irish Sports Daily afterward.
“I really enjoyed Coach (Joe) Rudolph's coaching and everything.”
Halter’s father, Jordan, played offensive line for the Irish from 1989-93. He’s been to South Bend for both lacrosse and football in the past.
The Central Catholic High School standout was pleased with his performance.
“I think I did pretty well with the combine testing and just the training itself,” he said.
He appreciated being able to work on the field with Rudolph.
“I really enjoyed it,” said Halter. “He teaches fundamentals, which are easy to learn, but hard to achieve.
“He was definitely Coach to us, but it was all positive and it was great. I really got a sense of just the coaching to me as opposed to someone else and how I can connect to it.”
The 6-foot-5, 270-pounder was a blocking tight end last year before shifting to being a true offensive lineman for this upcoming season.
The feedback from Rudolph was positive.
“He just enjoyed my playing,” Halter said. “He just wants to see more from tight end to offensive line move.”
Halter is also excited about the move.
“Absolutely,” he said. “I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be not as big of a change as it's for most from tight end to o-line, just because of how much blocking there was for me last year.”
While the Irish want to see some game film of him playing offensive line, some schools have already seen enough and Halter has added offers from schools like Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska, Duke, North Carolina, West Virginia, Indiana and Kentucky have extended offers in recent weeks.
