BREAKING | 2026 WR Devin Fitzgerald Commits To Notre Dame
Devin Fitzgerald’s interest in Notre Dame was noticeable long before he ever received his scholarship offer from the Irish.
And when that offer did arrive back in May, Notre Dame instantly became a true contender. The 2026 Arizona receiver reworked his official visit schedule to include the Irish, but didn’t adjust his July 5th announcement date.
And today, Fitzgerald announced his commitment to the Irish.
Fitzgerald is the 24th prospect to give the Irish his verbal commitment in the Class of 2026 and fourth receiver. He joins Texas’ Kaydon Finley, who made his commitment public on Friday, along with Florida’s Dylan Faison and Georgia’s Bubba Frazier.
The Irish seem well-positioned to land a fifth receiver when Texas’ Brayden Robinson makes his announcement on Sunday.
The Brophy Prep standout chose Notre Dame over his other finalists, UCLA, Stanford and Clemson.
Fitzgerald made multiple trips to South Bend over the past year, long before he was offered by the Irish and developed close bonds with members of the 2026 Notre Dame class during those trips.
He saw his recruiting profile expand steadily from the start of 2025 through May as he added several offers leading up to the one from Notre Dame.
When he received that Irish offer, he already had his announcement date selected as well as official visits set to Clemson, Stanford and North Carolina and had taken one to UCLA already.
But he quickly made plans to add an official visit to South Bend to the itinerary for June 13th.
Afterward, Fitzgerald called the trip “a great experience,” and talked about how well he meshed with the Notre Dame commits who were on campus.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is the son of future Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
And he comes from the same Brophy Prep program that produced former Irish star cornerback Ben Morrison and incoming freshman cornerback Cree Thomas.
Brophy head coach Jason Jewell said Fitzgerald made great strides over the past year.
“He's a big receiver,” Jewell said. “He's made tremendous progress in the last year; changed his body and was an impact player for us as a junior where he was a spot player for us as a sophomore.
“I never want to compare him to his dad, but he's got phenomenal hands. He had an awesome spring for us, so it doesn't surprise me that he's getting recruited like he is. Big kid, great size, good hands.”
