Albert Simien picked up an offer from Notre Dame back in March and the Irish are still top of mind for the 2027 Louisiana offensive lineman.
“I just spoke with Coach (Marcus) Freeman about getting down there for a gameday visit,” the Sam Houston High School standout told Irish Sports Daily.
“October the 11th will be my game day visit there.”
The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder is looking forward to getting to South Bend to see the Irish play NC State in a few months.
“To really just learn more about their academic side of things,” Simien said of the purpose of the visit. “They do have a high rate of graduation and they have a great Psychology program also.”
Simien, who wants to major in Psychology, was fired up about landing the offer from the Irish.
“It was exciting to get it on their Pot of Gold Day,” he said. “Just to be a part of their tradition meant a lot.”
He knows what kind of program Notre Dame has been in the past and what Freeman has been trying to build in terms of the identity being defined by the guys up front.
“It's an o-line type of team,” Simien said. “That's where o-linemen go when they really want to get developed.”
The messages from the Irish have been simple to this point, according to Simien.
“Just keep developing as a player and just keeping the right mindset going into this next season,” he said of what the Notre Dame staff has told him.
He has a couple other visits in mind as well.
“I'm going to be trying to go to LSU and Nebraska as soon as possible,” he said. “We might end up having some Thursday games, which would give me the opportunity to go to the far-out places.”
He’s already identified a couple factors that will be crucial to his final decision.
“It will mainly be about academics and then the coaching staff and how the coaches coach.”
