Safety wasn't exactly an ideal situation for the Irish defense last season.
The depth chart was comprised of two true freshmen, a guy who should have been playing another position, a 6th year player with athletic limitations, and a sophomore that many felt would never play during his career. When looked at through that perspective, there was nowhere to go but up for the safety position this spring.
