Ethan Posey‍ made his way down to South Bend this past weekend and the 2027 Illinois offensive lineman left impressed.

“It went great,” the Brother Rice High School standout said. “We all had a great time seeing the victory over Purdue. The visit was a great time. They talked about how they were going to find a way to win and that's what they did.

“We obviously saw the facilities. We saw The Walk going into the stadium. We talked to a lot of people on the board. We talked to ex-players, general managers, and we heard what Notre Dame has to offer, and we heard how Notre Dame stands out. Then we went to the stadium and saw them play.”

The panel, which included former Irish quarterback Ian Book and general manager Mike Martin, gave Posey and the other visiting recruits more insight into the University.

“It was really just the standard of excellence that Notre Dame has and the history of winning,” Posey said. “They really talk about how Notre Dame just has a culture that's unmatched to anyone else, and how the degree by itself stands alone.

“When you walk out, every football player has an expiration date, you'll be more successful just as a human with the degree.”

Prior to the game, the 6-foot-5, 295-pounder was able to speak with Irish offensive line coach Joe Rudolph and Director of Recruiting Advancement Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, who was around pretty much the entire visit.

“They really liked my film and my physicality and said to just keep doing that,” Posey said. “They want to see me back up here for a camp next summer.”

Returning for a camp next summer is something Posey “definitely” intends to do.

He was impressed with the environment inside Notre Dame Stadium.

“The atmosphere was great,” he said. “Notre Dame was scoring a lot, so people were doing a lot of pushups. The atmosphere was just electric in general. It was just a great atmosphere to be around.”

He has a few other Fall visits on the docket.

“Iowa State, Purdue, and Rutgers,” he said.

Posey has a clear idea of what he’s looking for in a college.

“I want to make sure that I play for a program with a great offensive line coach, a person who knows how to get guys to the next level and develop talent. I want to play for a program with a great head coach, a great program that could develop young men into men and a program that would make me successful for life.”
