Marcus Hicks’ recruitment is certainly trending in the right direction.

The 2019 Kansas defensive end has seen his offer list grow to five with scholarships from Kansas and Missouri to go with offers he already had from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Kansas State.

“I wasn’t expecting to be getting this kind of attention at my age, so I’m excited to see what’s coming up in the future,” the 6-foot-5, 230-pounder from Wichita said.

The Northwest High School standout has received interest from several other schools, including Notre Dame and he’s planning to get to South Bend in the months to come.

“I heard they wanted to talk to me and see me in person, so I’m just going to go up there this summer,” said Hicks, who added he would visit for a camp. “I’ve heard a lot of good things and I just really want to learn more about it because I don’t know that much in-depth about Notre Dame.

“I want to see what their nutritional stuff is like and what they do to help their players get bigger in the weight room and how I could be used in their defensive scheme.”

He’s also excited to give the Irish staff a look at what he can do.

“I think I can definitely show them my speed and my pass-rushing ability, which I’ve heard I’m pretty good at,” he said.

He’s made recent stops at Oklahoma State and Kansas and plans to hit at least one other school on his summer stops.

“I’m going up to Michigan before Notre Dame and on my way back, I’m going to stop at Notre Dame and go to their camp,” he said.

It’s still early, but Hicks has an idea of what he’ll be looking for in schools when he starts to narrow his list down.

“I actually like to look at their academics and see how they’re ranked in the country compared to other schools.”
