This weekend, Amarri Irvin‍ was back in South Bend for the second time after visiting Notre Dame during the summer.

“Everything went good,” the elite 2027 IMG Academy linebacker told Irish Sports Daily.

Irvin had the chance to meet the recruiting staff, watch the Player Walk prior to the Irish’s game against NC State and check out warmups before Notre Dame’s 36-7 win over the Wolfpack.

“It all went well,” he said. “It was a great experience.

“The facilities are great. I especially love that indoor practice facility and I know they have a new one that's going to be ready soon. So the facilities are nice. Notre Dame has nice resources.”

The atmosphere inside the Stadium also stuck out.

“Seeing all the songs and the tradition of Notre Dame, what it's like for a Notre Dame gameday experience,” he said. “It was great. It kind of gave an old school vibe, but the stadium was packed for the NC State game and it was great to see and be a part of it.”

He paid close attention to the Notre Dame defense, particularly linebacker Kyngston Viliamu-Asa and Drayk Bowen.

“The defense was really flying around to the ball,” he said. “The offense made plays. I like the linebackers Kyng and Drayk. They had a pick, so it was nice to see that and the big hits.”

It’s a system the 6-foot, 215-pounder said he could “most definitely” see himself in.

“I feel like the way they use their linebackers, they can put them in coverage, play them in the box and put them on the line,” he said. “They blitz them a lot. They just really utilize the linebackers a lot and I just like that.

“I feel like I have a lot of traits in my game that could be accessible to that and can be shown.”

He also spent time talking with head coach Marcus Freeman, linebackers coach Max Bullough as well as Notre Dame Director of Recruiting Carter Auman, Director of Player Personnel Jourdan Blake and staffer Justice Bathas.

“Anytime you talk to Coach Freeman, it's like a powerful speech,” said Irvin. “You can really learn from him. Talking to Coach Bullough, it was great seeing him in person, talking about the game and just about life, checking up on each other.

“The other staff too, Carter, Jordan and Justice, they were great to hang around and be around. They really showed hospitality, so I appreciate everybody at Notre Dame.”

Irvin has offers from schools like Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio State, Texas, Stanford and Oregon among several others. His scheduled trip to North Carolina next month.

But he will keep the Irish at the forefront of his recruiting moving forward.

“I'd say just keep going with the process, get back up there soon probably for Junior Day or someday in the spring.”
