Notre Dame made it clear how interested it was in Abraham Sesay a couple of weeks ago.
“They just called me up not too long ago, earlier this month, wanting to extend the offer to me,” the 2027 Pennsylvania edge rusher told Irish Sports Daily. “They just said they see me fit in the program; not just as a player, but also as a person, as a student.
“It meant a lot. I'm really big on academics and Notre Dame is a very prestigious academic school, so I was excited.”
And Sesay reciprocated that interest this weekend, when he made his way to South Bend for the Irish’s home finale against Syracuse on Saturday.
“Everything was great,” the Downingtown East standout said. “It was fun. I saw the game, saw some of the campus, talked to a lot of the coaches. It was great.
“I thought it was a great place. It's very prestigious, lots of amazing buildings, so I thought it was good.”
The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder was impressed with Notre Dame’s 70-7 victory over the Orange.
“It was an amazing performance, a historic performance, second-most points scored in a game in program history, so it was great and great to witness that,” he said.
Sesay, who also has offers from schools like Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama, Ole Miss, Wisconsin and USC among others, was also impressed with the Irish’s pass rushers.
“They really produced, going out and getting after the quarterback,” he said. “They played really well and just showed me a lot.”
While on campus, Sesay had the chance to meet with defensive line coach Al Washington and head coach Marcus Freeman.
“They were just talking about Notre Dame and seeing how I fit and why I fit,” he said. “Because of how I carry myself and what I'm interested in.”
Sesay sees the potential fit for himself as well.
After seeing Notre Dame, he’s looking forward to including Notre Dame in his process moving forward.
“Just continuing to build that relationship and just continuing to learn more about the program itself,” he said.
Sesay has already been to Nebraska, Syracuse, Ohio State and Penn State. He isn’t a rush to cut his list, but cut do so in the coming weeks or months.
“I'll probably narrow things down heading in the wintertime, in the springtime, but whenever the time is right.”
