Abraham Sesay‍ wants to be surrounded by like-minded people chasing greatness on and off the field.

That mindset may be the biggest reason Notre Dame has been positioned near the top of the 2027 Pennsylvania edge rusher’s recruitment for months.

Now, it’s just about closing time for the Irish.

Sesay has officially narrowed his recruitment to LSU, Duke, Notre Dame and Florida State as he prepares for a critical stretch of official visits leading into a summer decision.

“Just the schools that I was able to create really, really great relationships with as well as schools that my family felt comfortable with and that I could see myself at,” Sesay told Irish Sports Daily when explaining why those four programs separated themselves.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder will begin his official visit schedule at LSU (May 29) before heading to Duke (June 5), Notre Dame (June 12) and Florida State (June 19).

LSU stands out to the Downingtown East High School standout because of the level of competition within the program.

“Being surrounded by that competition every single day,” he said of LSU. “If I’m surrounded by high-level talent, I feel that iron sharpens iron, and that’ll help me improve my skills overall.”

Duke appeals heavily from an academic standpoint.

“Really just the education portion,” Sesay said. “That education is bar none.”

Notre Dame is pitching both sides.

“Just the combination of having that Four for 40, that amazing education and degree as well as being able to play at the top level of football,” Sesay explained.

The Exton, Pa., native also pointed toward the type of culture he sees inside Notre Dame’s program.

“Being able to be surrounded by like-minded men who care for their life after football, but also want to be first-rounders,” Sesay said.

Florida State’s position in the race is heavily tied to the arrival of new edge coach Nick Williams, who originally offered Sesay while coaching at Syracuse before joining the Seminoles this offseason.

“He was the one who really threw me my first offer ever,” Sesay said.

Florida State’s track record with edge rushers and strength in Sesay’s intended field of study, Management Information Systems, also continue standing out.

A final decision is expected sometime later in June, although Sesay acknowledged he could commit during one of his official visits if it felt right.

When the time does come, development on and off the field will likely determine everything.

“Just being able to be developed as a football player and master my skills,” Sesay said. “But also be able to develop off the field, my mental psyche and really just get that next level of mentality.”

Academics remain central to the equation as well.

“Having a great education I can lean on and I can use and really earn from that degree.”
