Good college football teams don’t have 18 and 19 year olds as the foundation of their teams. To play a lot as a freshman or sophomore, a player is typically going to have to be exceptional.
That’s been the case at Notre Dame since 2017. They’ve averaged over 10 wins per season in the last nine years and during that time they’ve had 63 second year players (redshirt freshmen or sophomores) play 200+ snaps in a season.
