Notre Dame had five defensive ends play more than 230 snaps last season. Having that much depth was a good thing, but it might have been one body too many in terms of splitting reps. The Irish had multiple linebackers who could rush off the edge in sub-packages as well and that made things even more crowded.
Three of those five defensive ends are gone, but the two that return played the most snaps of those five.
