Jevaughn Codlin can’t stay away from Notre Dame.

Codlin joined the Fighting Irish program in February of 2025 as a defensive analyst, working with the defensive line. In December, Codlin was hired to coach safeties at North Texas, but that was short-lived.

Per multiple sources, the former Kansas Wesleyan defensive back will return to Notre Dame and he’ll be tasked with coaching the safety unit, but he won’t be one of the 10 countable coaches.

Matt Zenitz was the first to report.

Codlin began his coaching career at Emporia State as an assistant coach for defensive backs. In 2023 and 2024, Codlin was on staff at West Virginia and worked with the Mountaineers secondary.

While at Notre Dame, Codlin’s energy was felt every day inside The Gug, but also on the recruiting trail. Despite working with the defensive line, Codlin played a role in helping the Irish sign five-star talents Khary Adams and Joey O’Brien, while also helping land Ayden Pouncey, Nicholas Reddish, and Chaston Smith.

Codlin’s return will also help with keeping 2027 cornerbacks Ace Alston‍ and Xavier Hasan‍ locked in with the Irish.
