Notre Dame continued to build its 2028 board recently by extending a scholarship offer to Elijah Cromwell.
The 2028 Colorado running back picked up the scholarship after a phone call with the Notre Dame staff.
Director of Recruiting Carter Auman began the conversation and then put Cromwell on the phone with Irish running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider.
“He said he liked my film,” Cromwell said of Seider. “He said I'm the best ‘28 he’s seen.”
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder was struck by Seider’s compliment.
“It meant a lot,” he said. “To be honest, I haven't heard that much.”
The 2028 prospect also holds offers from Cal, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Miami, Oregon State, San Diego State and SMU among others.
The Cherry Creek High School standout admitted the Notre Dame offer caught him off guard.
“It was quite shocking to be honest,” Cromwell said.
“They built their backs pretty well, like Jeremiah Love and #24 (Jadarian Price).”
Coaches have told Cromwell they like what he brings to the position.
“I'm an all-around player,” he said of what he’s heard from college scouts.
He was also impressed by Auman and Seider’s personalities.
“Great people,” Cromwell said. “They seemed genuine. I’m definitely willing to go down there for spring.”
While a visit to South Bend is expected, nothing has been finalized.
“I just don't have a date planned yet though,” he said.
When he does make the trip, the Englewood, Colo., native wants to focus on coaching and development.
“Just coaching and the facility and stuff,” Cromwell said.
Kansas State is already set for a spring visit and Florida could be added as well.
When it comes time to choose, Cromwell will be prioritizing a long-term outlook.
“Development for sure. Good coaching, hard coaching, willing to make me better.”
