Top 2028 WR Dedrick Kimbrough Excited For First Look At Notre Dame
Dedrick Kimbrough adjusted his visit schedule with Notre Dame to make sure he gets a full experience on his first trip to campus.
The 2028 Alabama wide receiver had originally planned to be in South Bend this past weekend, but worked with the staff to move the multi-day visit to Blue-Gold Game Weekend.
“They just wanted me to come out on that date since it’ll be a better chance to really see everything,” Kimbrough said. “I’ll be able to watch the scrimmage and the practices on both days.”
The change will allow the 6-foot-3, 180-pounder a more complete look at the program, something that is important as he continues to evaluate his options.
Notre Dame has remained a priority for Kimbrough even prior to the in-person visit.
“It’s one of the most prestigious colleges in the country,” he said. “From an educational standpoint, I know I’d be set going to a school like that. For future references, I know I’d have everything I need to be successful.”
As one of the top 2028 targets in the country, Kimbrough has already begun to narrow his focus.
“I’m pretty much down to maybe about six schools,” Kimbrough said.
That group includes Alabama, Notre Dame, Texas, Florida, Miami and Oregon as he continues working toward a decision during his junior season.
Notre Dame’s academic foundation, combined with the program’s success on the field, has helped the Irish stand out.
“Of course they’re a winning program, so I just want to get out and have a chance to compete,” Kimbrough said.
“I feel like Notre Dame could be the best place for me.”
Kimbrough has also built steady communication with the Irish staff since receiving his offer.
“I’d say we talk probably twice a week,” he said.
Those conversations have centered on how he could fit within the program both on and off the field.
“They’ve been telling me how big they are on tradition and how well they think I would fit in the program schematically,” Kimbrough said. “I could be the best student, I could be the best athlete and just be pushed and developed every day.”
The Thompson High School standout has also come away impressed with the people inside the program, including receivers coach Mike Brown.
“I think they’re all great people,” Kimbrough said. “Coach Brown is a serious coach, he knows a lot about the game and I feel like he’s a great person outside of football. I feel like he’d be a great coach for me to come and play under and learn a lot from.”
That feeling extends to Marcus Freeman as well.
“He’s just a great guy all around,” Kimbrough said. “I love how he coaches and just pushes the program every day. He would be another guy that I would love to play for.”
Kimbrough has been active on the visit trail this spring with trips to Texas and multiple stops at Alabama, while also planning visits to Vanderbilt and Georgia.
