Things moved quickly from the start between Notre Dame and Jackson Coleman‍.

That tempo carried through to the end of Coleman’s recruitment with the 2027 Colorado wide receiver announcing his commitment to the Irish on Monday, less than three weeks after landing his Irish offer.

Coleman gives Notre Dame 13 commitments in the Class of 2027 and six on the offensive side of the ball. He joins quarterback Wonderful Monds IV, running backs Isaiah Rogers and Lathan Whisenton and offensive linemen James Halter and Richie Flanigan.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder gets the Irish on the board at receiver while filling a specific need for the program in that room given his size, speed and ability to stretch the field.

Coleman chose the Irish over offers from several schools, including Northwestern and Oregon, where he had scheduled official visits.

Coleman arrived on campus for the Blue-Gold Game last weekend with the Ducks believed to be in a strong position, but Notre Dame wasted little time closing that gap. The visit provided a full-picture look at the program and allowed the staff to clearly define how he would fit within the offense.

That message landed.

The Valor Christian standout left South Bend with Notre Dame firmly at the top of his list, citing both the scheme and the way he was made to feel like a priority throughout the trip. The ability to play as a tall, vertical receiver in the offense, combined with the personal connections he built with the staff, gave the Irish the momentum they needed.

Coleman said getting to South Bend to spend time with the coaching staff in person “definitely made an impression on me.”

Head coach Marcus Freeman impressed with his demeanor and attitude.

“He’s a great leader and he’s honest, he cares,” Coleman said of Freeman. “You can tell he cares for his players and he loves Notre Dame Football.”

Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock gave Coleman an overview of the Irish offense and how he’d fit in it.

“It was just really good to sit down and talk to him,” said Coleman.

Coleman pointed to receivers coach Mike Brown as the staff member who pushed for him to be put on the recruiting board and reconnecting with him in person in South Bend was vital.

Coleman is coached at Valor Christian by former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Sanford.

His commitment adds another dynamic weapon to the offensive side of the ball and continues a strong run for the Irish, who landed Monds and defensive end Aidan O’Neil on Friday.

More importantly, it reinforces Notre Dame’s ability to quickly position itself for top targets, even when entering the race later than others.
