Notre Dame is no stranger landing elite offensive tackles recruits and the one they just landed is a rare prospect. There just aren’t many 17 year olds with 86.5 inch wingspans and 36.5 inch arms who can move the way Oluwasemilore Olubobola‍ does at 295 pounds.

Olubobola is one of the top offensive tackles in the 2027 recruiting cycle and he’s a massive addition to Notre Dame’s class.

Height: 6’6”

Weight: 295

Projected Position: Offensive tackle

ISD Grade: 95 (4-star)

National Average Grade: 95.0 (4-star)

What he does best:

He’s light on his feet and can make mirroring pass rushers look easy. That combined with his arm length makes him special.

He shows nastiness as a run blocker. He will impose his will on defenders and put them on the ground.

Olubobola has great mobility getting to the second level and on reach blocks.

What he needs to improve:

Olubobola’s pad level can get too high, which I think is partly due to him playing out of a two point stance. He’ll have to adjust to playing with his hand down, but it will help him. He can play with better leverage. It just needs to be more consistent.

He sometimes wrestles guys to the ground to get a finish instead of bringing his feet. It’s a habit he needs to break.

What’s his ceiling?

Olubobola’s ceiling is sky high. His physical traits are special and that combined with disposition on the field and athleticism make him a unique talent.

There are certainly areas of his game that he needs to work on and he’ll benefit greatly from adding strength and improving his technique, but he has tools to develop into one of the top offensive tackles in college football. I think we could see him follow a similar path to the one Guerby Lambert has taken so far at Notre Dame where he redshirts and maybe even gets a look at guard before becoming a starter at tackle. It’s very similar to what happened with Paris Johnson at Ohio State, who was another freaky long athlete. He eventually developed into a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft.

When Olubobola starts putting it all together, it’s going to be scary how good he can be.
