The version of Jeremiah Figaro‍ that college programs are recruiting today looks very different from the prospect they evaluated a year ago.

After changing positions in the middle of last season, the Massachusetts prospect saw his offer sheet expand rapidly. After changing class years and schools, he’s seen his recruiting profile explode even more.

Figaro transferred to Dexter Southfield this offseason after moving from wide receiver/tight end to defensive end at Malden Catholic last fall, a transition that quickly changed the trajectory of his recruitment.

He reclassed from 2027 to 2028 and the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder picked up offers from schools like Nebraska, Texas Tech, Maryland, Illinois, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Wake Forest among others during that transition.

Following a showcase at Dexter Southfield last Tuesday, Figaro added North Carolina, UCLA and Tennessee to that list.

Notre Dame hasn’t offered yet, but the Irish were in attendance at the showcase and Figaro is on their radar.

On his end, Figaro has genuine interest in the Irish.

The Brookline, Mass., native grew up hearing plenty about Notre Dame.

“They’re one of the best programs,” Figaro said. “Honestly, we’re big Notre Dame fans. My stepdad is always talking about Notre Dame.”

The Irish aren’t quite in position to offer immediately, but if they ever do, Figaro already knows how he would respond.

“If I got that offer from there, I’d have to take that visit right away,” he said.

For now, much of the focus remains on continuing to develop while adjusting to the increased attention surrounding his recruitment.

“It’s fun,” Figaro said of the recruiting process. “You just want to come out, compete and get better every day.”

That attention has also created added motivation.

“It makes me want to get better every day because I know I’ve got a target on my back now,” Figaro explained. “People are coming after me, so I just want to work, work, work.”

Figaro has already taken visits to schools like UConn, Nebraska, Rutgers, South Florida and Vanderbilt while also making a trip to Penn State.

As the process continues, there are several programs he hopes to revisit for game-day atmospheres.

“I want to go to Penn State for a game,” he said. “I want to go down to Virginia Tech. I want to see Texas Tech for sure.”

When it comes to ultimately narrowing things down, Figaro already has a strong sense of what he wants in a program.

“Honestly, just a family-based program. People who don’t only care about football, they care about academics, your outside life too, how your family’s doing, stuff like that.”
